The Challenge América Solidaria, a leading NGO with a 20-year legacy in LatAm, faced a critical strategic doubt: Is our volunteer model still relevant for younger generations? The organization perceived an upward shift in the age of applicants and feared a disconnect between their traditional offer and the motivations of modern young professionals.
Role: Lead Design Researcher & Strategy Consultant.
Scope: Ecosystem Mapping, Stakeholder Interviews, Service Blueprinting, Data Analysis.
Timeline: 24 weeks (Santiago de Chile & LatAm regional scope).
To solve this, I led a mixed-methods research strategy across 6 countries (Chile, Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, and Haiti):
Quantitative Audit: Analyzed historical databases to identify demographic shifts and drop-off points in the recruitment funnel.
Qualitative Immersion: Conducted 3 co-creation workshops and 25+ deep-dive interviews with active volunteers, rejected applicants, and territorial partners.
Behavioral Insights: Executed a "Volunteer Probe" and surveys with 50+ potential applicants to map the friction between professional aspirations and social altruism.
We moved beyond the demographic question to identify systemic failures in the Volunteer Journey:
1. The "Form" Bottleneck: We discovered that the recruitment form was the only (and very rigid) touchpoint. By applying a UX lens, we proposed transforming this static tool into a dynamic engagement center that filters for "Trade-Profile Match" rather than just data collection.
2. Narrative Gap: Research showed that while the organization’s pillar is its volunteers, they were nearly invisible in official communication. We recommended a pivot toward Peer-to-Peer Storytelling to reduce the "Experience vs. Age" anxiety among recent graduates.
3. Volunteer Typologies: I developed a set of Evidence-Based Personas that allowed América Solidaria to understand the different nuances of social motivation, from the "Skill-Seeker Graduate" to the "Expert Altruist," tailoring the recruitment message for each.

STAKEHOLDERS MAO
VOLUNTEER TYPOLOGY
Service Blueprint: A comprehensive map of the recruitment and field-work lifecycle, identifying 12+ critical intervention points.
Recommendations Matrix: A prioritized roadmap of tactical actions for the Communication and HR departments.
Stakeholder Alignment: Socialized findings with international directors to unify the "América Solidaria Spirit" across all regional chapters.
"This project highlights my ability to conduct Large-Scale Strategic Research. I didn't just deliver a report; I delivered a Service Blueprint that aligned multiple international offices under a single, evidence-based strategy. It proves I can handle high-level Stakeholder Management and translate complex human behaviors into organizational change."
